There are many reasons why you might wish
to record life.
Perhaps you are a new parent, keen to preserve the precious
memories of your baby's early days, for their sake and for yours.
Maybe you are older and interested in setting down some of your
memories and experiences for posterity, or exploring the history
of your ancestors.
Then again, you might be in the middle of a rich and busy life,
in which there is so much going on that it seems a shame not
to have a record of any of it, but there simply doesn't seem
to be time.
The beauty of LifeThemes is that the process
is to some extent automatic. Unless you tell it otherwise, the
diary will record typically
significant events, such as holidays and parties, on your Lifeline.
Any digital photos that
you have indexed for that event, and any people who are listed
in your diary as having been involved will be linked as a matter
of course.
If you have the time and inclination, you
can enhance your Lifeline, adding details about past events,
and linking places,
documents, stories,
etc. to your memories. |
A
Parent's Gift
When your children come of age and leave
home, imagine being able to hand them a record of their childhood.
The events which have shaped their formative years, the places
they have lived in and visited, the people they have encountered
and the things they have created and owned, all are illustrated
and evoked in pictures, in words and in sounds. Whether it's
an old school report card, a favourite recipe, a sports triumph,
a stage performance, or just a note about something funny that
happened, it will be there on the lifeline, for them to browse
through in years to come and for you to treasure always. |
History
in the Making
Chances are you are already recording your
life. The entries in your calendar or diary, your address book,
the photos you take with your camera or perhaps your phone,
all these are rich in biographical information and detail. All
LifeThemes does is to bring these elements together in one place
and link them, so the records that emerge as a result of ordinary
everyday life, as well as the highlights and special occasions
are organised and accessible. |
Clear
the Clutter
What to do with some of the stuff that is
cluttering up your house but that you are holding on to for
sentimental reasons? If it is 2D, you can scan it into the computer
and if it is 3D, take a digital photograph. Store your memories
in Documents or Things.
That way you can liberate items from the basement or the attic.
Date them and link them to places, events and people. You can
clear out the clutter without losing the memories. In fact,
your dicarded 'stuff' will have a new lease of life in the context
of LifeThemes! |
