You don't experience your life in
unrelated segments, and there's no reason nowadays why
your computer should either. Your camera, your address
book, your diary - why shouldn't they all talk to each
other? Your recipe book, your family tree and your dvd
collection too for that matter.
LifeThemes is inspired by
research into the ways our minds actually work. We don't
think in straight lines and we don't live our lives
in straight lines either - the truth of the the matter
is much more varied and interesting than that. This
is organic technology: the natural processes of experience
and memory are respected and the relationships and activities
that inform our lives are supported and recorded. You
can create links wherever they are most useful and meaningful
for you.
The strength of LifeThemes
is its scope and clarity, but its genius lies in the
way it is all linked up. |
Joined-up
living
Some links are obvious. You want
to connect a book review to a book, a name to a face,
an insurance policy to a car and a date to a dentist.
Others are less obvious. You want to link a song to
a holiday, a recipe to a great aunt, a pet to a painting,
a story to a party, or a document to a baby. LifeThemes
lets you. |
Search
and ye shall find
LifeThemes search facility means
that the links you have created between the places,
people, pictures, memories, music, experiences and events
in your life will yield a rich harvest when you are
looking for something in particular. Birth of a baby?
Slideshow for a 40th birthday? Commemoration of a life?
Research into your ancestors? Or perhaps just a slice
of life. Whatever it is, if you've entered it into LifeThemes
you'll not only be able to find it, but to explore the
context around it and do something with it, print it,
share it or allow it to set off a whole new set of associations
in your mind... |
Downright
convenient
So you see in your LifeThemes diary
that you are going to visit a friend who has just moved
house. And the diary entry links to your friend's new
address. And the address is linked to directions which
she emailed you. And you're embarrassed because you've
forgotten her partner's name. But that's ok, because
you made a note of it in your record for her. The pictures
you take during the visit? Link them to the diary entry
and to your friend. Create a quick slideshow and burn
it onto a CD to send her, if you like. You get the idea. |
