Pictures include all your digital photos, any printed photos
you have scanned in, scanned drawings or paintings, video
clips and of course any other images you have saved or imported
from the internet or elsewhere.
LifeThemes goes much further than most photo
management tools in that it makes it easy for you to link
your pictures to the events, family, people, places, belongings
and stories that make up the fabric of your life. Powerful
searches and filters then allow you to find the pictures you
want and browse through them using a variety of views including
a slide show facility. Audio annotation can be imported from
cameras or recorded after import to enhance your pictures
further. Pictures associated with important events in your
family’s life automatically appear on the LifeLine.
In short, LifeThemes helps you to get maximum use and pleasure
from your precious pictures.

FEATURES

Collections
Multi-level collections can be used
to organise pictures. A picture can belong to any number of
collections. |
| |
Katie
has her artwork organised in collections for each year of her
life.
Pictures can belong to more than one collection.

Indexing
Indexing is simply the action of selecting which people, places,
pets etc. feature in each picture.
Multiple pictures can be indexed at a time and some simple indexing
can be done as the pictures are added into LifeThemes from disk
or camera.
Over time you’ll want to enrich the indexing to make it easier to find those special shots. |

LifeThemes makes it easy to index all the photos of baby Katie.

Extensive Links
Pictures are linked, through indexing, with diary events, people,
places, pets, things, stories and documents i.e. any of the
items held in LifeThemes. These links are automatically “two-way”
in that once you’ve linked a picture to a person then
the picture can be accessed from their “person”
record as well. |
| |
Pictures are
linked to places. See Back
to Work
Pictures are linked to dates in diaries, and events, such
as Memories
of a holiday, or a child's performance. See Tara
Pictures connected with significant events, such as a
child's first steps are linked to Lifeline. See

Search & Filter It’s
possible to use LifeThemes to search for pictures in numerous
different and powerful ways. For example it is simple to find
all pictures where “Katie” is the main person, the
activity is “swimming” and the place is “Greece”.
The results are presented in the “Search” tab and
you can create a new collection from the results of any search.
Collections can also be “filtered” in many ways,
for example by place, say “Millennium Dome”; this
has the effect of reducing the collections displayed to those
that contain pictures of that place. |

He is also able to browse and select images representing
the five decades of Jack and Edie's lives together. See

Multiple Views
Pictures can be displayed as small
or medium sized thumbnails, as “picture cards”
or in “full” or “window” modes, which
have a “slideshow” option.
|
 |
The
picture card view displays a gallery of
pets, past and present.
The 'all links' view displays
memories and more
memories of the Greek holiday.
The full view makes it possible to browse through all pictures
of Theo (the dog), either by clicking through manually, or
in a slideshow format. See pets
The window view for Tara takes
up the full screen and shows all pictures and audio associated
with her. Like the full view, it is possible to click through
manually, or to run a slideshow.
